Feds Look to Implement National Non-Compete Rules for Employers

The Federal Trade Commission's proposed rule would amount to a near-total ban on the use of non-compete agreements. It gives employees more options but could leave employers with fewer legal means of protecting their confidential and proprietary information.

Right now, agreements containing non-compete clauses are governed by state restrictive covenant statutes or common law.

A non-compete is not enforceable in the State of California.
