A restaurant in Sacramento must pay 140-thousand dollars to its workers after it hired a fake priest to get confessions out of them. Federal investigators are calling it "the most shameless" act of corruption of a business against its staff. According to the Department of Labor, an employee testified that owner Che Garibaldi hired someone to hear confessions during work hours to extract what they called "sins." That includes asking them if they'd ever been late to work, stolen money or harbored "bad intentions" toward the company. Other employees reported a manager lied and said immigration issues would be raised by the department's investigation. The Catholic Diocese of Sacramento also confirmed there was no connection between the alleged priest and their diocese.
