- Hazy conditions are pouring into Northern California this morning with another day of potential power shut offs for some counties. PG&E officials say smoke from area wildfires is going to join with soaring temperatures around the region today to produce very poor air quality and elevated fire risk. The hazy skies will mean dangerous air quality for young children and seniors, who should try and stay indoors as much as possible today. - State Senator Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfied) is holding a press confrence this afternoon to give an update to her bill SB14, which aims to create harsher penalties for those convicted of the trafficking of minors by using the state's Three Strikes Law. SB 14 is currently on hold in the Assembly Apropriations Committee as they look into the funding for this bill. Click here to read more.
- The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Governor Newsom is blaming the courts for the worsening homeless crisis in that city. A recent court order prevented San Francisco City crews from clearing homeless camps. Newsom tells the Chronicle the judges who issue those orders should be held accountable and that the order is preposterous and inhumane. Click here to read more.
- There are new efforts underway at the Capitol to stop agricultural land from being bought up by big businesses. It comes after the discovery that a wealthy investor group has been purchasing thousands of acres of farmland near Travis Air Force Base. Click here to read more.
