Protesters are marching in downtown Sacramento, forcing police to block off an Interstate 5 onramp. Demonstrators, who are part of Black Lives Matter Sacramento, are on 5th and I streets. Protesters are marching against the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office’s decision to not bring charges against the two Sacramento police officers involved in Joseph Mann’s shooting death in July.
Mann, 51, was shot 14 times during an armed confrontation with police on July 11th, 2016.
Police closed the nearby I-5 onramp to protesters and drivers. Officers are closely monitoring the NB I-5 offramp at J Street. Motorists should expect major delays.
