President Donald Trump is weighing in on Wednesday night's protests against a planned speech by Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos at UC Berkeley. Trump tweeted, quote, "If UC Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view-NO FEDERAL FUNDS?"

What began as peaceful protests against Yiannopoulos' speech quickly turned violent with smoke bombs being thrown and at least one fire set. Protesters argued that what Yiannopoulos specializes in is hate speech, and that it does not deserve to be protected.
