REPAIR UPDATE

Crews at Lake Oroville are working to clear debris from the channel below the damaged spillway in order to get the power plant back online. Water backed up into the plant forcing officials to shut it down. DWR spokesman Bill Croyle says getting the power plant back up and running is a priority because it uses up to 13,000 cubic feet per second to power the turbines and with water flowing over the emergency spillway, the more outflow they can create, the better. They expect the overflow to stop sometime tomorrow.

There is a plan to plug the hole in the emergency spillway that would include using helicopters to drop bags of rocks into the crevice to prevent any further erosion. Scott Miller, Aviation Expert and professor at Sacramento Community College, says night-vision goggles are routine.
