The CHP says they have arrested 26-year-old Alberto Quiroz in connection with Wednesday night's death of Officer Lucas Chellew. Investigators believe Quiroz was riding the motorcycle that Chellew was chasing at the time of the accident.
At a midday ceremony at the CHP academy Thursday, family and officers remembered Officer Lucas Chellew who died Wednesday night while pursuing a suspect in Sacramento. CHP officials rang the traditional bell and announced officer Chellew as the latest hero of the Patrol.
Gov. Brown says flags will fly at half staff to honor the fallen officer. Chellew crashed on Fruitridge Road near Stockton Boulevard. Quiroz was booked into the Sacramento County Jail Thursday night.
