A boy died on a Monterey beach after waves 8 to 12 feet knocked him into the ocean. His father reached out to him and grabbed him, only to have his son slip out of his grasp.
Onlookers told the father, who wanted to jump back into the water, to not do it, because it was too dangerous.
The boy struggled in the water for 20 minutes. Later, CPR was performed on the boy, but he didn't make it.
Some have labeled Monastery Beach, "Mortuary Beach," based on all of the drownings they've had there.
