California Ranked First For Pedestrian Deaths

A new report finds California to be the deadliest state in the nation when it comes to pedestrian fatalities.  The report from the Governors Highway Safety Association found 359 pedestrians were killed in traffic accidents in the first six months of 2016.

Overall, over six-thousand pedestrians lost their lives in traffic-related incidents in the U.S. last year.  That is the highest total in more than two decades.

GHSA officials blame cell phones and other electronic devices for the surge, saying they seem to play one of the bigger roles in causing distractions that lead to such deadly incidents.
