Woman Beaten To Death On Highlands High Track Was Sexually Assaulted

Sheriff's investigators say an 18-year-old "person of interest" is under arrest for yesterday's savage attack that killed an elderly woman.  Sacramento Sheriff's Sgt Tony Turnbull also now confirming that both woman attacked at the Highland High School track were sexually assaulted.

The violent assault happened at the North Highlands High School track around six o'clock in the morning.  An 86-year-old woman died at the scene, and a 61-year-old woman was injured.  The suspect was arrested yesterday afternoon for an unrelated assault of a woman near Fair Oaks Boulevard and Howe Avenue.  Investigators believe there may be a connection between the two attacks.
