Sacramento Kings President Chris Granger is stepping down in July. Granger issued a statement on Monday explaining his departure. "The Kings are in an amazing place, and it's time for me take on a new challenge. Together, we re-energized downtown Sacramento, creating the world's most technologically advanced and sustainable arena that our fans and team are proud to call home," said Granger.
Kings owner Vivek Ranadive added that Granger "is one of the best in the business and we are extremely thankful for his contributions to the Kings and the Sacramento community."
For now, the Kings said the management team will be led by Chief Operating Officer Matina Kolokotronis and, starting (immediately) the current Chief Financial Officer John Rinehart will have the role of President of Business Operations. Granger is expected to remain with the Kings during a month-long transitional period.
Neither Granger or Ranadive has offered any further specifics on the reason for the change.
