Ohio Fair Tragedy Prompts CA Amusement Ride Closures

At least two amusement rides in California have been shutdown following Wednesday fatal accident on with the Fire Ball ride at the Ohio State Fair. At the California State Fair in Sacramento security teams surrounded the "Fire Ball" after it was shut down as a precaution.  A similar ride has been closed at the Orange County Fair.  The Orange County ride is called the G Force and it spins riders around in the air much like the Fire Ball ride in Ohio that broke apart Wednesday.

The G Force ride was inspected in the morning per the Orange County Fair's usual protocol, but the second inspection was launched last night as a precaution.  O.C. officials said they did not see any signs pointing to a potential problem, but insisted that safety is their number-one priority.

It is uncertain if the Fire Ball at the California State Fair will reopen before the end of the fair this weekend.

In Ohio, the ride broke apart, leaving one person dead and seven hurt.
