Texas PTA Seek Donations To Fill Backpacks

As the recovery continues in Texas, thousands of school children are headed back to class with their lives turned upside down. Now there's something you can do to help their transition.

In in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the Texas state parent teacher association is working to collect donations to help provide the important supplies for students and teachers to be ready to learn on the first day in the classroom.

"And we are asking you to help us back the future and fill the backpack," said Texas state PTA president Lisa Holbrook in a video posted on their website. She wants to emphasis that "100% of all donations will benefit our students."

They hope to "fill the backpack" with pencils, rulers, paper and other critical supplies as children try to focus on learning. California State PTA President Dianna MacDonald says they would love to see residents in the Golden State support Texas by donating at their website.

They are taking cash donations only so that they can purchase the specific items needed in those communities impacted.

You can make donations online or by mail. All of the information is available at http://www.txpta.org/donate
