California Values Act Closer To Becoming Law In California

California is a step closer to becoming a Sanctuary State. The State Senate sent the California Values Act bill to Governor Jerry Brown’s desk. The last day of the Legislative Session Friday carried over into the wee hours today as the house approved Senate Bill 54 by a 27-11 vote.

The measure, penned by Pro Tempore Kevin De Leon of Los Angeles, limits local law enforcement’s ability to cooperate with Federal Immigration authorities, except where undocumented immigrants have been convicted of serious offenses. De Leon stated, “In California, we celebrate diversity. We don’t ban it. We don’t deport it. We don’t wall it off.”
