Police released the identity of the murder suspect who was shot dead on the Eastshore Freeway in Emeryville during yesterday's morning commute. Emeryville police are identifying the suspect as 45-year-old Demilo Hodge of San Leandro.
Hodge was gunned down on Interstate 80 following a pursuit that involved the Fairfield and Richmond police departments. Cell phone videos taken by stranded commuters show Hodge getting out of his vehicle and firing shots at officers. He was then shot and killed.
An investigation into the shooting shut down the eastbound lanes of 80 for nearly two hours; the westbound lanes were closed for over eight hours.
Fairfield police say they had been looking for Hodge in connection to the murder of a 68-year-old man two years ago.
