Organizers say the 24th Annual Run to Feed the Hungry attracted well over 29,000 people and has generated in excess of $925,000 for the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services, according to spokeswoman Kelly Siefkin.
This year's turnout is being called a record and shows how much the event has grown since its beginning back in 1994. In the augural race fewer than 800 people participated.
As is the case every year, participants wore turkey hats and even full costumes for the both the 5K and 10K races.
Siefkin noted that about 135,000 people are served by the food bank each month.
