Elk Grove Student's Racist Rants Goes Viral

The Elk Grove Unified School District has opened an investigation after a student's racist Snapchat video goes viral.

The Snapchat video of a student disparaging African Americans was reposted to Twitter and had been viewed over four million times since being posted on Christmas Eve.

In the video, one girl is heard saying things like "black people are trash, they need to die," while another girl looks on.

The tweet has been shared more than 7,000 times. Commenters posted the name and phone number of the girl, however that number is now disconnected. Many Twitter users are threatening violence against the girls, but the video has been liked by more than 11,000 users.

District officials confirmed both girls attend district schools and said they have been in contact with their families during the investigation.

Elk Grove Unified's statement can be found here.

WARNING: The video contains explicit language.
