California Democrats will hold a state convention in San Diego from Friday, February 23, through Sunday, February 25, and it appears the organizers and delegates will be be energized with anger over the Trump administration and Republican control of Congress.
Spokesman John Vigna says, our activists are fired, they are energized, they are impassioned about this country and what's going on in D.C." He says the Trump presidency is rallying point for the 2018 state Democrat platform. "If there is going to be any challenge to Trump or any challenge to these knucklehead Republicans in Congress it's going to come from California Democrats."Vigna describes the platform as one of the most progressive documents to come from a Democratic party anywhere in the nation, and we think that it will set the standard for what Democrats will be talking about for the next ten (to) 15 years."
The platform focuses on fighting climate change, advocates for universal health care for every Californian, including a single-payer system, and address rural issues for those Democrats who do not live in the larger coastal cities of California.
John Vigna believes that there is no other state capable of stopping Trump and stopping congressional Republicans like California.
