Former Deputy Chief To Run For Sacramento County Sheriff

There's a new face in the race to be Sacramento County Sheriff. Former deputy chief Milo Fitch says he'll run against incumbent Scott Jones this fall.  Both have declined to speak publicly on the matter today, Fitch saying he'll offer details on his positions later in the week.

Now in charge of the California Prison Authority's workforce development department, Fitch has been quoted as saying he's running because he believes the department "needs a change."  He says there are too many big problems that aren't being addressed.

Fitch spent more than 30 years with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.  He's never run for office but is said to be less conservative than Jones on a number of key issues.
