Suspect Killed After Shooting Yuba County K-9 Officer

Authorities remain on the scene of a deadly officer-involved shooting in downtown Marysville.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department says spike strips were ultimately used to stop a suspected DUI driver before 2:30 a.m. on E Street.

A K-9 was sent over to the vehicle after 26-year-old Jonathan Alexander refused to step out. Alexander then shot the dog in the neck, leading deputies to shoot and kill the man. The K-9 is expected to survive.

Highway 70 remains closed between 5th and 9th streets for an investigation that's expected to wrap up at around noon.
