CA Raw Oyster Norovirus Warning

California health officials say approximately 100 people up-and-down the state have come down with a case of norovirus after eating raw oysters from British Columbia, Canada.

The Department of Health is warning about the risk of getting norovirus from easting raw oysters harvested in south and central Baynes Sound.

Canada has reported 172 cases of gastrointestinal illness linked to consumption of raw oysters. Officials say the number of new illnesses is declining but the investigation is not complete.

Restaurants and retailers are encouraged to check Canada’s website for closure statuses and notices of re-opening.
