CA Attorney General Sues Companies For Lead In Toddler Formulas

California's attorney general on Thursday announced he is suing two companies after state officials claimed to have found dangerous levels of lead in toddler formulas those company sell.

During a news conference that can be seen below Attorney General Xavier Becerra said he and ten district attorneys had filed suit against Nutraceutical Corporation and Graceleigh Corporation. The state attorney general's office says Nutraceutical's Peaceful Planet Toddler Supreme Formula and Graceleigh's Sammy's Free Range Goat Milk Toddler Formula expose toddlers to lead at levels well above federal guidelines.

Justice Department officials said that it has been confirmed that both companies have pulled the products in question off of store shelves, but the legal action will continue in an effort to ensure that the companies take appropriate action to make the toddler formulas safe and to establish penalties if the do not.

The Associated Press reports that a call to Graceleigh was not immediately returned. No one answered the phone at a listing for Nutraceutical.

The state attorney general's office says both companies agreed to stop selling the products in California in response to cease and desist letters.
