Gov. Jerry Brown Comes To Terms With California Budget Deal

Governor Jerry Brown and leaders in the State Legislature have come to terms on a budget deal that puts $14-billion in the rainy day fund, and another $3-billion for other unexpected emergencies.

That total of 17-billion should get the state through a mild recession without severe service cuts, according to the Legislative Analyst Office.

But the deal does not include two proposals that would have offered Medi-Cal to undocumented young adults and seniors or allow them to get the state's Earned Income Tax Credit.  The budget deadline is a week from today.
