Carr Fire Destroyed Her Home, But Redding Nurse Helping Others

Among the properties destroyed by Carr Fire is the home of Shasta Regional Medical Center nurse Stacey Kelly.  She says it went up in flames in just minutes after she spotted a wall of flames approaching and evacuated her family.

Kelly's adult children and a grandchild have been staying with her after losing their home to the Santa Rose Fire last year.

Kelly says she is one of over 50 doctors, nurses, and others from Shasta Regional and Mercy Medical Center who have lost homes due to the Carr Fire.  Still, she says all those people are now throwing themselves into their work and the effort to help others.

Listen to the full interview with Stacey Kelly below.  Also below is an unaired interview with Shasta Regional Medical Center nurse Michelle Gaffney on her experiences with the Carr Fire and its aftermath.
