Governor Jerry Brown is propelling the state to use more renewable energy.
Brown signed S.B. 100 today in Sacramento which will transition California to 100% emissions-free electricity sources by 2045.
The state has the world's fifth-largest economy and the bill is expected to give a major boost to the clean-energy industry.
Officials say right now the state only generates about one-third of its energy from wind, solar or geothermal power.
