One Sac County Sheriff's Deputy Killed, One Injured In Rancho Cordova

Update: The suspect's identity has been released by police. Anton Lemon Moore, a 38-year-old from Rancho Cordova allegedly shot at police, killing Mark Stasyuk and injuring Julie Robertson. Sheriff's officials say Moore, who also goes by the alias Anton Paris, was wounded in the shootout, but is in stable condition.

A Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department deputy was shot and killed on Monday afternoon while he was responding to disturbance call in Rancho Cordova.

The deputy has been identified as 27-year-old Mark Stasyuk.  Sheriff Scott Jones said Stasyuk had only been with the sheriff's department for a little over four years.  A second deputy, 28-year-old Julie Robertson, was with Stasyuk on the call for service about 1:45 p.m. at the Pep Boys store near the intersection of Folsom Boulevard and McGregor Drive.

The suspect and a bystander were also hit gunfire. The condition of each was not known as of Monday night, according to officials.

What is know is that when the deputies arrived, they encountered a suspect who unexpectedly shot at the deputies, according to Sergeant Shaun Hampton with the Sheriff's Department.

Stasyuk was shot in the upper body, said Jones.  Robertson sustained a bullet wound to the arm, but she is expected to make a full recovery, according to Jones.

The shooting scene actually covered two locations.  It moved from the Pep Boys store to a parking lot just we of the store.
