"Router Issues" Cause Outages At California DMVs

Critics are reacting to a statewide computer system outage at the Department of Motor Vehicles today.

The statewide outage took DMV computers offline for a little more than two hours this morning.

The outage is the latest issue for a department that has faced intense scrutiny, including a revelation today that an additional 3,000 incorrect voters registrations have been found and extensive wait times for customers.

KFBK contacted the DMV Office of Public Affairs for a comment on this story and officials provided the following written statement:

"The DMV has fixed a router issue that was affecting field offices around the state. The affected offices are now back up and processing customer transactions. We apologize for any inconvenience."
