Suspect Who Stole Sac County Probation Department SUV Arrested

UPDATE: Larry James Brookshire was re-arrested around 7 o'clock last night about seven hours after he escaped. The stolen SUV was found in a parking lot in the area of Truxel and San Juan roads, and Brookshire was arrested in a north Sacramento apartment.

The Sacramento County Probation Department is looking for the person who stole a department vehicle. 

40-year-old Larry James Brookshire was arrested and placed in the back of an unmarked Ford Explorer, but within minutes, he moved into the front seat and drove off. 

A short time later, the SUV was found in the parking lot of a shopping plaza in the 3200 block Truxel Road. 

Witnesses reported seeing Brookshire leave the SUV and then run northbound. 

According to the Sacramento County Probation Department Assistant Chief Deputy, Brookshire is on probation for a prior conviction of a felon in possession of a firearm. Brookshire is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt.
