SMUD has posted the names of customers and vendors who have not yet cashed checks dating back to September of 2015. Each year SMUD posts this information in an effort to find the people who should have received the money.
SMUD spokeswoman Lindsay VanLaningham said the utility is looking for about 1,500 customers and vendors in a effort to get them their share of approximately $145,000 in uncashed checks.
State law requires that SMUD make the effort to find those sent checks which have not been cashed, but there is a deadline for someone to come forward and file a claim. You have until 5:00 p.m. on December 21 of this year.
