Former Kings Player Kenny Thomas Delivers Toys to Kids

Former Sacramento Kings player Kenny Thomas is bringing Christmas joy to many Sacramento-area children this holiday season. Thomas delivered toys to 100 pre-selected kids in the community Saturday.

"This is a great opportunity for us to be able to bring these toys in and give them to the kids," said Thomas. "It's just a blessing being able to have resources to help people out that are unfortunate."

Thomas stepped in to sponsor the kids after learning that the children's Angel Tree toy wishes has not been fulfilled.

"So I took it upon myself to go to Walmart on Monday and buy some toys for the kids," Thomas said.

Thomas bought $2000 worth of toys, while his El Rey on K restaurant has also collected cash donations and new toys for Saturday's distribution.

"This is the time of year to really give back and I love the seeing the smiles on people's faces when they get excited and the kids are all happy," said Thomas.

Thomas retired from the NBA in 2010 but says he's honored to have people still want to take pictures with him. He has a message for his fans.

"Happy holidays, treat everybody like you want to be treated and I hope everybody has a great Christmas and a Happy New Year, and smile as much as you can!"

Parents of those children also received a holiday food box from the Salvation Army of Sacramento County.
