Alabama Police Issue Arrest Warrant For NBA Star DeMarcus Cousins

BIG3 - Week Seven - Chicago

Authorities in Mobile, Alabama have issued an arrest warrant for Los Angeles Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins on misdemeanor domestic violence charges. According to TMZ, the charges stem from an argument between Cousins and his ex-girlfriend, Christy West on August 23.

West claims that the two were arguing over the phone about whether their seven-year-old son could attend Cousins' wedding to another woman. When West told him that she would not allow her son to attend the wedding, Cousins threatened her. She recorded their conversation and played it for investigators when she filed a complaint.

"I'm gonna ask you this one more time before I take it to another level," the man, who West claims is Cousins can be heard saying. "Can I have my son here, please?"

After West tells him no, he then tells her: "I'm gonna make sure I put a bullet in your f****** head."

At that point, the audio cuts out.

West also claimed that Cousins choked her during a previous incident, but did not provide specific details to authorities.

The Lakers have issued a statement saying they are looking into the allegations.

"We are aware of the allegation involving DeMarcus Cousins and, of course, take this claim seriously. We are in the process of gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time."

Cousins was married to Morgan Lang on Saturday (August 24) in Atlanta and his son was not in attendance.

The Lakers center tore his ACL earlier in the month and could miss the entire season after signing a one-year deal with the team.
