Sen. Feinstein Responds to Misquote: "The President's Actions Were Wrong"

Senate Impeachment Trial Of President Trump Continues

Senator Dianne Feinstein took to Twitter to clarify some remarks quoted by the LA Times. It was initially reported that after Tuesday's impeachment trial, the Democratic senator suggested that she could vote to acquit President Donald Trump.

“Nine months left to go, the people should judge. We are a republic, we are based on the will of the people — the people should judge,” the LA Times reported Feinstein saying after Trump's defense team concluded their arguments. “That was my view and it still is my view.”

Feinstein, however, sent out a tweet clarifying her remarks.

"The LA Times misunderstood what I said today," she began refuting the Times claim that she could be the first Democrat to vote to acquit Trump. "Before the trial I said I'd keep an open mind. Now that both sides made their cases, it’s clear the president’s actions were wrong. He withheld vital foreign assistance for personal political gain. That can’t be allowed to stand."

The LA Times has since updated their article to reflect Feinstein's correction.

Following the conclusion of Trumps defense teams argument which debated that there have been no impeachable offenses uncovered by the House - the case will now move onto written questions from senators.
