HBO Will Stream 500 Hours Of Free Programming As Part Of #StayHomeBoxOffice

Social distancing can be hard. That's no secret. As we do our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by staying home, many of us are turning to the various streaming services to keep us occupied. From doing a comfort rewatch of Gilmore Girls on Netflix to watching the House of Mouse's latest feature film releases on Disney Plus, there are, thankfully, plenty of options for to us to fill our hours. Thanks to HBO, everybody stuck at home will now have even more shows and movies to choose from. Here's what you need to know.

The premium cable channel will release 500 free hours of programming for non-subscribers (without any ads) beginning on Friday (April 3) as part of a new promotion called #StayHomeBoxOffice. HBO's list of programming that will be available for free includes a number of their own prestige television show, including The Sopranos, Succession, Veep, Six Feet Under, Barry and The Wire. In addition to their own programming, HBO also has the streamings rights to a number of Warner Bros. movies, including Pokemon Detective Pikachu, Smallfoot and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.

For those of you hoping to finally stream HBO's juggernaut fantasy series Game of Thrones through the #StayHomeBoxOffice promotion, unfortunately, that's one of the titles that won't be available without an HBO subscriptions. Other popular shows that won't be available for free include Big Little Lies, Westworld, Euphoria and Chernobyl. If you do have an HBO subscription, however, these shows are still available to stream.

This promotion will run for a limited-time only, though HBO has not announced an official end date to the #StayHomeBoxOffice promotion just yet. The shows will be available on HBO's two current streaming platforms, HBO Go and HBO Now. What will you be streaming on HBO?
