Elk Grove Blood Drive To Take Place Despite Coronavirus Pandemic

The current coronavirus pandemic has resulted in a widespread cancellation of blood drives, ultimately creating a blood shortage. On Monday, however, there will be a blood drive at the California Northstate University in Elk Grove to offset the shortage.

Tanya Talwar is a first-year medical student at CNU. She is promising the drive will not sacrifice social distancing for donations.

"We have a system set up so you can sign up for a donor spot ahead of time," said. "So the benefit of this is that we can stagger all of the donors so that everyone comes in at a different time, and we can minimize the amount of people in the room at any given time, again minimizing exposure."

Additionally, face coverings will be required.

To register, click here to be taken to donors.vitalant.org. Once on that website, click 'make appointment', 'blood drive code', then enter the code SMFL237.

The CMU College of Medicine is located at 9650 West Heron Drive in Elk Grove.
