Dangerous Heat Expected In Northern California This Week

Heat related records are expected to be broken this week in the Sacramento region and throughout much of Northern California. Heat advisories are in effect as above-average temperatures will rise to 100-degrees and above in the Valley and into the 90s in the foothills. The National Weather Service in Sacramento also reports that overnight lows will only fall into the upper 60s to lower 70s for most Valley locations and middle 70s throughout the Foothills.

The heat wave also means a widespread risk for those people susceptablThe heat wave also poses a potential threat to people, especially those susceptible heat related illnesses, and NWS has issued an excessive heat warning through Thursday. Heat stroke and similar illnesses can easily happen with prolonged exposure. If you have to work outside, the experts are advising you practice heat safety, and that includes staying hydrated and seeking shade when possible.

The heat will start to ease a bit by Friday as we see a weather system approach Northern California, according to forecasters, but it'll still be hotter than normal by then. Cooler temperatures and chances for mountain showers are possible starting Friday afternoon and will last last into next weekend.
