Case Closed As Victim’s Remains Found On Killer’s Placer County Property

It was 15 year ago that Placer County Sheriff's Office detectives began looking into the murder of 27-year-old Christie Lynn Wilson. While extensive searches throughout Placer and Nevada counties failed to turn up her body, the investigation eventually led to the arrest of Mario Garcia. The case went to trial, and Garcia was convicted of first-degree murder.

Efforts to find Christie's remains have continued over the years, and last week that search finally paid off. Sheriff's officials working with the Placer County District Attorney's Office once again searched Garcia's former 4.5-acre Auburn property. Ground penetrating radar equipment was brought in to scan several areas of interest, and over a period of four days they finally got the break they'd been hoping for all these years. Bones were uncovered and taken to the Placer County Morgue, where dental records confirmed the remains are Christie's.

Investigators said they hope this will help with her family's mourning and will bring them closure.
