A driver suffered major head injuries after being hit by a Sacramento County sheriff's deputy, while the deputy was responding to a call.
This happened at 12:25 a.m. at the corner of Howe Avenue and Alta Arden Expressway in Sacramento.
The deputy was headed northbound on Howe Ave with their lights on, when they crashed into a Honda Fit. The driver of that car was ejected from the vehicle, and has major head injuries.
The sheriff's deputy was taken to the hospital with a cut to the head, and other minor injuries.
An ER doctor who was passing by the scene, gave aid to both victims until paramedics arrived at the scene.
The intersection has now been reopened.
