Man Shot, Killed in Citrus Heights Standoff

A man was shot and killed by police in Citrus Heights after reportedly firing a gun at officers Monday night.

Police were called to the area of Garry Oak Drive and Twin Oaks Ave, for a neighbor dispute.

When they arrived, a 64-year-old man pointed a gun at officers. Police fired at the suspect but did not hit him. The suspect ran into his home and barricaded himself for several hours.

Later in the evening, officers confronted the suspect in his backyard where they say he again pointed a gun at them and fired. Officers shot him and the suspect died. No one else was inside the residence. No officers were injured.

The identity of the suspect has not been released.
