Stay-At-Home Order Lifted In Greater Sacramento, Returns To Purple Tier

The stay-at-home order in the Greater Sacramento region has been lifted. After projections show that the region's ICU capacity would be above 15%, the state allowed the region to return to its previous COVID-19 restrictions.

All counties in the Greater Sacramento region except Alpine and Sierra have returned to the purple tier. Alpine County is in the less restrictive red tier of reopening and Sierra County is in the orange tier, according to CSB13.

Sacramento County and Yolo County will both return to the purple tier starting Wednesday, January 13.

Restaurants and bars can reopen outdoor dining and services like hair and nail salons can reopen indoors with COVID-19 modifications.

Businesses that can resume outdoor only operations are:

  • Restaurants
  • Wineries
  • Bars, brewers, and distilleries that serve meals
  • Gyms and Fitness Centers
  • Places of Worship
  • Museums, Zoos, and Aquariums
  • Cardrooms
  • Outdoor playgrounds and recreation facilities
  • Family Entertainment Centers (mini-golf, batting cages, etc.)

Businesses that can reopen indoors with modifications are:

  • Hair salons
  • Barbershops
  • Shopping centers
  • All retail with 25% maximum capacity
  • Grocery Stores

If counties in the purple tier improve to red or orange, more indoor operations can reopen and restaurants, gyms, and places of worship can resume indoor operations with modifications.
