See Where California Ranks On List Of Best & Worst States To Drive In

In American culture, taking a drive can be a relaxing and therapeutic activity. But, driving can also be a cause of stress for everyday commuters. No one likes being stuck in traffic, but the U.S. happens to have five of the world's 25 worst cities for traffic.

In 2021, a significant amount of people are working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, surely making the roads less congested everywhere.

To find out how these new changes reflected on the road, WalletHub compared all 50 states across indicators of a positive commute to find out where each state ranks in terms of driving.

According to the study, California is one of the worst states to drive in. Coming in at No. 49, the state was just one spot shy from being The Worst state for driving, which went to Hawaii.

California is joined by these states for being the worst when it comes to driving:

  • Colorado (No. 41)
  • New Jersey (No. 42)
  • New Hampshire (No. 43)
  • Pennsylvania (No. 44)
  • Rhode Island (No. 45)
  • Delaware (No. 46)
  • Maryland (No. 47)
  • Washington (No. 48)

California was also mentioned in a few of WalletHub's other key findings during their study. The state came in first for having the most auto-repair shops and most car washes per capita.
