California is posed to stop the tiered reopening system and fully reopen the economy by June 15th according to the state's top officials. Governor Gavin Newsom says virus mitigation and vaccination efforts are so successful that the state plans to do away with the color coded system by that date in June. On the heels of vaccinating over 20 million residents, Newsom also says California's COVID test positivity rate is the lowest in the country. Johns Hopkins University data puts it at just one-point-one-percent as of Monday. Newsom said mask mandates will continue even as the tiers go away. Bars, restaurants, sporting and concert venues will be allowed to open at 100-percent capacity after June 15th.
