UC System Now Requires Vaccinations For Students And Staff

Starting this fall, the University of California system is changing course and now saying vaccinations are required for all students and staff. A few months ago, the university system said they will wait for full FDA approval before requiring the vaccine. But now, UC Regent Eloy Oakley told the San Francisco Chronicle that university president Michael Drake plans to move forward with the plan. UC has a combined 280,000 students on 10 campuses, along with nearly a quarter of a million faculty members and staff. The change in policy would break a previous promise that vaccinations would be required only after the FDA fully approved at least one of the three vaccines now in use through emergency regulations. California State University officials say they are not requiring COVID vaccinations until the FDA gives full approval, but indicated that could change.
