No Plans For Flex Alert This Week, Officials Say To Still Be Cautious

Despite the California Independent System Operator saying there are no plans for a Flex Alert today, the grid operator is still asking residents to monitor the weather and be prepared for any changes.

High temperatures are in the forecast across the state, but there's expected to be enough energy resources to keep up with demand. If a Flex Alert is issued, people would be encouraged to voluntarily conserve electricity between 3 and 10 p.m. "If weather or system conditions worsen, the ISO may issue a series of notifications to access additional resources, and prepare market participants and the public for potential energy shortages and the need to conserve," Cal ISO said in a release.

If a flex alert is issued, consumers may be asked to avoid using major appliances, unplug unused appliances, use fans when possible, amongother measures.
