KFBK Morning News Show Recap - Wednesday July 28th

Leads:

  1. Yolo County residents will have to start wearing masks indoors regardless of vaccination status. Starting Friday, face coverings will be required for everyone in indoor public spaces. The health order will remain in effect until the case rate falls significantly. The mandate comes amid a rise in positivity rates across California.
  2. California State University will soon be requiring students, staff and faculty to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Students and employees would have until September 30th to get their shots if they want to be on campus. The policy allows them to seek medical and religious exemptions.
  3. A statewide Flex Alert takes effect this afternoon due to the sweltering heat. The California Independent System Operator issued the alert from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Folks are urged to limit their power usage during that time. The Flex Alert is in response to soaring temperatures and the growing number of wildfires in the state.
  4. Governor Gavin Newsom is facing political heat after a photo surfaced of his son sitting indoors and maskless at a summer camp. The other kids in the photo also had their faces uncovered, according to "The Sacramento Bee." The photo has created political pushback from parents who are opposed to a state mandate that requires masks in public schools. "The Bee" is also reporting that Newsom has pulled his children out of the summer camp.
