Richard Brown, head of the state employees union local 1000, is resisting California's push to provide proof of vaccination or get tested for COVID-19.
On Twitter, Brown is urging his fellow state workers to "cease and desist" against Newsom. Brown also sent a letter to the California Department of Human Resources, objecting to the new rules. Other labor unions have indicated support for the mask mandate, but SEIU 1000 is fighting the change. State workers currently have until August 2nd to verify their vaccination status.
A little more than half, 52%, of the state’s 65,000 prison employees are fully vaccinated, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
