7:18 AM - The Pentagon is confirming an explosion outside the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Press Secretary John Kirby tweeted the amount of casualties is unknown. The explosion happened hours after Americans in Kabul were advised to leave the airport immediately. The United States embassy there noted a "security threat outside the gates from the ISIS-K against the crowds that are gathered."

Word of the explosion came just after Kirby tweeted evacuations in the capital city won't finish over the next day and a half. He said they'll continue to get as many people out as possible "until the end of the mission."
