The Department of Defense identified the sergeant over the weekend as 23-year-old Nicole L. Gee from Roseville.
She was one of 13 service members killed while supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel. Just days before her death, Gee posted a photo on Instagram of herself in uniform holding a baby in Kabul saying , "I love my job."
On a GoFundMe page raising money for family and friends to travel to Gee's funeral, Fuoco said her family was devastated by Gee's death but that her sister had been committed to her work.On Facebook, the city of Roseville described Gee as a "hometown hero."
