Around six inches of snow fell on Palisades Tahoe, Sugar Bowl and Bear Valley Ski Resorts between Monday and Tuesday mornings.

Lower elevations saw about a quarter inch of rain. The rest of this week is expected to be dry, but morning fog is expected most of this week throughout the Sacramento region. Fog is expected for the next several days, local weather service forecasts show, with patchy fog expected near Sacramento each morning through Thursday. High temperatures will warm up to around 70 degrees, with overnight lows in the upper 40s.The recent spate of storms – a large atmospheric river dumped record-breaking precipitation in parts of northern California in late October – have some people wondering why Tahoe area ski resorts aren’t open yet.

“We get phone calls and emails constantly at this time of year,” said Mt. Rose Marketing Specialist Travis Bennett. “We haven’t set an opening date because we want to have a good product that is open from the top. We don’t want to open and have it melt away.”
