- Investigations are underway after a group of masked people rushed inside the Roseville Galleria. Strangely though, nothing was stolen or damaged, and they ran back outside after just a few seconds. The Roseville Police Department received multiple calls Monday evening about the incident. Witnesses say there were between five and ten people, described as men, wearing masks and face coverings. This comes amid a string of high-end store robberies in Northern California, involving larger groups of people also concealing their identities. Roseville Police call the Galleria incident highly suspicious.
- More than 90% of students within the Sacramento Unified School District are unvaccinated or have not reported their status according to the latest data, but SCUSD students 12 and older must have at least one vaccine dose by November 30th in order to continue in-person learning next semester. Students that are granted an exemption must do regular COVID-19 testing. Unvaccinated students without an exemption will have to start remote learning next semester. Less than 1% of students have been granted an exemption so far.
- San Francisco has seen a steady uptick in robbery and theft over the last several months with at least one neighborhood, The Marina, hiring its own security.
- State unemployment officials say almost one million residents may have to repay their benefits. According to the EDD, there are new federal rules in place that require individuals show proof that they worked, planned to work, or were self-employed prior to the pandemic. The policy applies to anyone who filed a claim to get the federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance boost after December 27, 2020. Those affected by the rule change were notified over the summer. Failure to respond to the notice could bar individuals from receiving PUA funds this year, and require repayment of money from 2020.
