CA Reinstates Universal Indoor Mask Mandate, Takes Effect Wednesday

The indoor mask mandate is coming back to California. State health officials announced Monday the mask mandate will be reinstated on Wednesday and will run through January 15th. The state is also tightening the negative test requirements for non-vaccinated people attending mega events of a thousand people or more. They must now show a negative test within one day of the event, instead of within 72 as it previously was enforced. Travelers who return to or visit California are advised to get tested within 3 to 5 days of arrival. Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly says COVID-19 case rates have spiked by 47% in the state since Thanksgiving. But for many Californians, this will not dramatically change everyday life. Almost half of the state's residents are already under a mask mandate in parts of Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and Sacramento.
